Comments on: Ayr, ON. May 17, 2023. While waiting for CP 137-17 to show up, I shot train 1 of 2 – the Hagey job led by CP 3040 and CP 7307. Train 2 of 2 (137) was closely behind. I could hear the horn as the train was approaching Ayr. Shortly after, they went into emergency. The fact that the train derailed still didn’t cross my mind. However, radio conversation on the situation soon revealed the severity of the situation. Part of the mid-section of the train derailed at mile 65 between Cedar Creek Rd. and Alps Rd. First time for me experiencing a derailment in real-time while railfanning. Expect the unexpected in railroading.
