Comments on: Barrie Collingwood Railway chase 5 of 7. Railroading in the snowbelt of southwestern Ontario is no easy task, however this crew makes it look easy as four men tackle the snowed in switch; one with a “blower”, one a switch broom and the other two with shovels. This conductor (long haired man in the centre of the frame) has it good today in stark contast too other shortlines where rail crew members (engineer and conductor) are down on the ground clearing switches. Once he is able to line the switch, the engine will reverse onto the cars they just ran around in order to spot Canadian Mist. At Canadian Mist the crew will have lunch before continuing their trip back east to Utopia and a quick switch at F.S. Partners in Stayner.

I believe they were. All the other industries in Collingwood had stopped using rail service by this time.

Great photos Dave! Sadly I was never able to see the BCRY to Collingwood as I was only 11 by the time it was all shut down but that train always interested me. Thank you for sharing your footage from a chase before the abandonment of the line!
One question though, was Canadian Mist Distillers the last consumer in Collingwood by the time this photo was taken?
