Comments on: Bayview Junction, from a ‘true’ 28mm perspective This photo started at Toronto Camera ( Yonge Street near Gould ) pre-owned counter…where I found a nearly new Nikkor 28mm f2.8 CN geep #4100 / RS-18m #3154 ( with a wave from the head end brakeman) leads VIA CN #75 at Bayview, March 18, 1978 Kodak Tri X negative by S.Danko what’s interesting: no one I knew bought new Nikon / Nikkor camera equipment, lenses were $459 up while quality used Nikkor were $279 or so and up, this was 1978, equivalent prices today’s dollars: $1,808. and $1,099, just for the lens ! Rather nice image.
Note the ‘garbage trough’ in lower center. At this spot many guys changed their cars’ oil between trains. It eventually got filled in.
Every time I see photos like this, I am thinking “those were the days my friend; we thought they’d never end.”
