I had 4 GP9′s and 20 coaches on the Algoma run in August 1977……but how do we persuade CN and CP to reverse the directional running every year…just to switch things up?

Interesting. When I think of passengers going ‘downhill’ I think of how the Algoma Tourist Train would have 5 locomotives and 25 coaches in the height of fall. Now? No idea, but it is a lot smaller.

Thanks for reminding me how short The Canadian was for most of the year. After 1972, CP ran the Toronto-Sudbury Park car only from mid-June to mid-Sept. and about two weeks near Christmas. This summer consist had only one and a half coaches and two sleepers. There were six Toronto sleepers on the train even in May a few years before.
