Comments on: Being in the right place at the right time allowed me to capture this rolling meet between competitors. It was a pretty intense few minutes beforehand as I could hear both trains whistling at nearby crossings. The CP 466 popped into view first with a pleasant surprise in the form of two SD40-2′s along for the ride. Seconds later a much slower CN 115 came into view. If this had all happened about ten seconds later, the scene would have been in full sun. That being said I still went away feeling quite satisfied. But there was no time to let it sink in as I made a quick decision to go after the CP.

Now for the numbers’s

CP# 466 (Red Deer-Sutherland)
CP 8500,5790,5976

CN# 115 (Toronto-Calgary)
CN 2570,2448,GECX9148

The words "much slower CN 115" are so true. The company I buy for has it's biggest western warehouse in Calgary and the transit time from Toronto has increased dramatically since CN pulled up the old Canadian Northern Saskatoon / Calgary line. This train seems dogged by bad luck and our shipments are almost always delayed. Great photo Matt!
