Comments on: Boundary Trail. This 23 mile (Morden to Binney) line of former CP La Riviere Sub in Southern Manitoba was drawn up in 2008 and commenced operations in 2009. Eighty local farmers came together with $1.25 million to take over the old CP line before it could be taken up and scrapped. They were in danger of losing the efficient way of moving their grain to market. In 2016 CP and BTR ironed out trackage rights so the Boundary Trail could operate over CP line extending from Morden to the interchange with the CP at Rosenfeld. So far a real testament to the hard work of a group of farmers, together with advice and support from the Northern Plains Rwy of Minnesota, that success could be attained even though none of those in the original deal had any idea how to actually operate a railroad. The lone engine, former Grand Trunk 4625, is thus appropriately framed in this rather lucky shot.

Another great photo Arnold, rainbows are always a nice touch, especially ones that touch the ground on both sides & frame the subject.

I do have a question, what is the unit? The fans & the cab side window seem a bit odd from my limited knowledge.

Thanks, guys. I was hoping a second 'bow would form, (see faint rainbow on upper left) but it never did. I guess I cannot get overly greedy.

Excellent shot and story. It's always nice to hear the story of saving a rail line from removal.
