Comments on: Branchline railroading is in effect as GEXR 583 has arrived at Arkell, the crew is setting the switch and tossing the derail off to pull ahead and duck into the siding, 582 is coming and both crews decided to meet here. Back when this job ran north every day in the evening they had to meet somewhere and every siding between the Junction and Guelph was used for meets. I don’t know what possessed me to go out, but the lighting I found which Steve Danko commented about and rightfully so, possessed me to chase it north. It was absolutely drop dead gorgeous. All I can say is there was a break to the north,and dark clouds to the south, and the sun had broke through as it was nearly sunset. As I traveled with the train north the light got a little less dark as the clouds would eventually no longer be to my north as I waited for this meet to happen, but this lighting effect in winter I’d never seen before and never seen since. It was absolutely phenomenal. Usually with this kind of thing in summer/spring you’d get the bright red/orange cloud effect. Not this day. Just very strange probably due the height of whatever clouds these were – fairly low compared to the usual likely due to a low dewpoint (just my guess).
