Comments on: Budd Cars used to be so common. I was not much of a fan of them. But now, I kinda miss them. They have been away from the Southern Ontario scene since around 1990. This view shows the evening train from downtown Toronto rolling in to a stop at the quaint Unionville depot, on its way to end of its’ run at Uxbridge. It is a tough angle, this shot, as it is 1808 and the sun is setting behind the old elevator next door on the other side of the parking area. Budds are: 6351, 6001, 6006 and 6401. CTG says the 6006 is now at Orangeville.

Thanks for the comment, Ken. I didn’t know about NL and Budds, but I would like to think if they did get them, they would still have them.

Great shot Mr. Mooney! Wish we still had lots of them. My first VIA ride was on an RDC (VIA’a 605 from North Sydney to Truro on September 16,1988) and I’ve loved them ever since. Did you know that NL came close to getting them in 1979? Newly elected Premier Brain Peckford fought to have them replace the Roadcruiser Bus with the formation of Terra Transport that year. – Ken

I find it hard to believe this bucolic scene even existed in the GTA. Now i’m sure it’s all houses and no longer a farmer centruc community as this seems to be in 1976..
