Comments on: Built in London in 1960 as SW1200RS 8171 and converted to a remote control cab . CP 1160s fate is at hand. A site no railroader should ever witness , having worked on these units for many years. The location is track 1 at the Toronto diesel shop. Because of safety concerns the scraping of this unit and many others was moved to an isolated track away from where employees where working. 8171 spent most of it time switching around the SOO and other northern Ontario yards.

A lot of fond memories of these units from my younger years and the times working on the 8100,s. Back in the day 3 units where the norm on the London pick up . I got to ride this train several times with my dad. The sound of these units lifting over tonnage ratings was nothing less then incredible.
