Comments on: Canadian manufacturing is dead? Nope – tell that to Canadian Erectors – who had a load of formed steel products to come out of their Eastchester Ave plant. Note the switchback used, a very interesting track layout for sure. Not sure why the switch back even exists, you’d think the spur could just go in direct using the right of way as shown.. The lakeshore spur was recently (3-4 years?) cut back to about this point, formerly having ran under the QEW to customers on the north side of the highway.

Last cars I saw come out of here were August or September of 2020. Seems like another victim of Covid. Interesting enough they just finished rebuilding the loading area and realigned the tracks before they stopped service.

This place was getting cars again in 2020 or 2021 but has since closed manufacturing as per receptionist. Seems they aren’t doing too good.

There’s also a switchback in Hamilton at Parkdale Ave N just South of Burlington Ave E. Same thing, the spur could go right into the industry, a warehouse of some sort, without the switchback.

Daniel, re: townline spur connection heard that rumour too. think about it: who will pay for it? its at least a half mile of new right of way and easements, construction and new track and would probably cost a half million to a million to build and this assumes they use the pine st lead, plus the costs of re-adding crossing protection on the pine st lead, if its even possible to put it back.

and for how many cars a year? 800? someone has to pay… transload might be cheaper.

@craigandru, Trillium is now operating out of that yard by SLM recycling south of Brown Road. Green Road is just a deadline now (TR 110, 1842), and a recent addition includes stored tankers which extend down to Feeder Yard.

Lakeshore was cut back in 2007, although service stopped up that way just before Trillium took over I’m lead to believe.
