Comments on: Canadian National “doodlebug” 15832 with a combine trailer in tow throttles up at the station in Stayner ON, enroute to Meaford. Oil-Electric 15832 was built in 1930 by Canadian Car & Foundry, a self-propelled passenger car often known as a “doodlebug”. Popular for use on branchlines or lines with low passenger ridership in the steam era, they were precursors to the widely successful Budd Rail Diesel Car (RDC) of the 50′s. This car is painted in a variation of CN’s typical yellow and green 1954 scheme, with a yellow front end and plow but with red front doors. Stayner was Mile 22.8 on CN’s Meaford Sub, which ran from the Bala Sub at Barrie 52.2 miles to Meaford. More on the Meaford Sub: CNR 1322 at Meaford, 1958: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=14023 CNR 1527 leaving Meaford in March 1958: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=15383

This is quite something. The old Stayner station has been relocated to a golf course over in Collingwood, I believe.
