Comments on: Canadian Pacific leased several first-generation locomotives from the Union Pacific during 1964/65 to handle secondary trains while its top-rated power hauled Russian-bound grain. In this March 1964 photo, UP FA-1 #1627 and two FB-1s arrive at the north end of CP’s Windsor Yard. Tucked in behind the Alco cab units are two National de Mexico RS-11s #7291 and 7292 built by Montreal Locomotive Works. (Note the MLW representative on steps of NdeM 7291). The following morning, the RS11s were ferried across the Detroit River and interchanged with the Wabash which would take them to Kansas City.

I forget the details but I remember reading there was some kind of US-Mexico dispute that resulted in NdeM units not being lettered until they arrived in Mexico.

It is very interesting that these Canadian built units have notched short and long hoods the same as US Alco built units.
