Comments on: CN 2511 with the 2620 trailing and westbound at Boston Bar East. As I was leaving the location, I looked back and saw the 2511 from this perspective, and took a few shots before the crew member stepped out of the cab and dropped the garbage over the front end. That was very much appreciated!

Thanks to all for the comments. My main objective this day was to get a photo of the Boston Bar Station, now boarded up and in rather poor condition, but unfortunately, it’s not accessible due to a strict “No Trespassing” policy. I’ll try to get permission next time through that way. Will also request they send CN 2511 back your way, although that may be pushing my luck :0)

I might add I have always wanted to catch this unit down in Niagara. A couple of years ago I posted CN 2511 on the lead going over the Jordan bridge (#31344) when it used to be an MLW. )back before retirement in 1982. Now, as the number makes the rounds again, a Time Machine shot back at Jordan would be a great catch.

I’ve always wondered about the paint from this era. It was CN, it was CP and a lot of CSX units in which the paint deteriorated very quickly. Almost like there was a “special” on poor quality paint and the railroads all bit on it. Not unlike the recent batch of Ontario license plates many of you may notice.

Having checked other photos of this unit dating back to 2003, it seems the paint began to deteriorate around that time, starting at the roof line. Must have been a bad mix.

That paint reminds me of the Santa Fe Pink Bonnets.
Is this a odd formulation of the paint or all older CN units looking this shabby?
