A book to watch for!!! This reminds me of a cute story.
I was at the Alberton PEI library where I purchased a copy of “A Photo History of PEI Rwy” (they had an extra)and I said to the girl that I sure would like to thank the guy who wrote this book. She says “he’s right out there, cutting the grass.” Sure enough, the author lived right next door to the library.
This is a nice book. I have often wondered how such a network of track and stations could be supported by only 135,000 people.

Thanks again Mr. Mooney, you are most kind! Bill Linley’s forthcoming ‘TRACKSIDE NEWFOUNDLAND’ will be the definitive photographic book on our narrow gauge railway. With over 240 colour images, it will be a must have and includes everything from our ‘Caribou’, the branchlines and the last container trains!

Thank you for your kind comment(s). I never did get to NFLD and I regret it. But, the one time I was serious about visiting the Rock,(1981) I realized I just did not have quite enough time. The Island is BIG, and it needs a good couple of weeks to make a worthwhile exploration trip.
If I had owned a book as good as “Rails Across The Rock” back in those years, I probably would have made the trip.:o)

Another great image Mr. Mooney! I love seeing the PEI images. Like Newfoundland, railroading on that Island was so unique. The Grand Falls Central Railway had three GE 70 tonners that were in use until it shut down in June of 1977.
