Comments on: CN 397 begins its assault on the ruling grade of the York Sub with westbound tonnage, as seen from the cab of a CN MLW. Quite alot has changed since 1979, the 401 has been expanded and the GO sub now crosses under the York sub at this location – not to mention the motive power we’re riding in!

Quite an interesting ride...down to 2 and a half units (only the M636 and M420W were on line--the GP40 was cutting out and the two GP40-2LWs were dead)--and then YB sets up a meet for us at Beare! Fortunately, the eastbound got in the clear, so we didn't stop, and crested the hill at McCowans at 10 mph!
