Comments on: CN 421 cruises through CN Stuart in Hamilton with a whopping 25 engines dead in transit. This is a first, and perhaps last, for me. It was definitely an amazing sight to see!

Congratulations for being at almost the perfect spot for a remarkable train. I did not hear about this move, but, I was in the dentist office at the time it passed. It figures.

Hi John, CN drops them in Southern Yard and Martech moves them one at a time with their centre cab. The Tube Spur (former CASO) connects Martech to Southern Yard. CN does not go onto the Tube Spur. There were three that went down there in July, well ahead of this batch.

Kevin, glad you could record this “last miles” trip for these retired units. Did you get any of their numbers ? Interesting that the movement approached Stuart on a Harbour West “GO track” from Hamilton Jct. and not on the normal CN Grimsby sub. I am assuming CN421 originated at Mac Yard, so these dead units must have accumulated at the diesel shop there over the last month or so. Question, if they are going to Martech in Welland, do they have travel over Trillium ? Thanks for posting. John
