Comments on: CN 523′s crew gives a big wave to the test train crew doing an inspection at Ash on CN’s Halton Sub. Since the demise 330/331 from Sarnia to Pt. Robinson there seems to be a big increase in traffic between Pt Rob and Mac Yrd. 523 ran 4 days in a row from Mac Yrd to Aldershot and back and there have been 524′s from Pt Rob to either Aldershot or as in todays case, right to Mac Yrd. This is addition to the regular 421/422 trains.

Also I should mention some research I have done on the new intermodal terminal.

A recent land sale saw 200 acres trade hands for $165M that was purchased 6 years prior for only $15M. The land was purchased for industrial development fronting Tremaine road.

CN Shareholders should rejoice - $826,000/acre is the value of lands in that area now,

meaning the CN lands, over 1200 acres is worth a cool $1 billion

But yeah, essentially that whole area is going to transform into warehouses and industrial sites and the rich vultures have already flooded to the area buying up everything they can.....

get your shots... I have...

This is true. However I know of one photo online that I saw quite recently ;) And a well done one at that.

Alex the inter-modal facility has already resulted in permanent changes down there. I've already captured shots in the last 2 years in advance of it that you can't do already.

It's only accelerating now as CN construction crews are full bore.

I've also looked at the construction schedule and a new track is going to be installed from main st in Milton to basically Ash (but of course there will be further re-locations of the mainline just south of Brittania Rd)

The temporary mainline is supposed to be installed this summer.

Permanent mainline installation begins June 2023 completed in 2024. (between lower baseline and brittania)

The construction schedule does not show the timeline/extension of the 2'nd main track north of Brittania road.

This is the only picture of the Ash interlocking I could find online... nothing on flickr.
It's an absolutely beautiful location that will soon be gone forever.
I wish I had discovered it sooner.

Bayfront still has rails, as does Central Shipping, but they have been idle for a long while now. My understanding is only locomotives and/or bottle cars being shipped in or out go by rail - at most once a year but much less frequently than that.

Dofasco did switch their own Central Shipping until a few years ago once or twice a week... but that has ended for now. Those cars went CP.

Again I think it's all by truck now.

Stephen I think he probably meant that the unit switches the steel transfer facility.
There were rails that went to the Dafasco Bayfront, not sure if they are still there. We used to bring 730 the ore train in there. Dafasco had their own locomotives though, which were remote control. CN never switched the Dafasco plant.

CNSD60F: I don't know where you think 7304 switches Dofasco... it does not. There are no direct rails into Dofasco's plant beside the steel centre. It's all trucks.

Thanks for the update. Great to see them on the active roster. Sadly none are active on any main or yard service around here.
