232 is not considered an extra. While it is not a regular train like 421/422 its not considered an extra.
As I said earlier, the auto companies control the flow of auto racks. I have never worked a 232 that was HOT.
In the old days we used to have what the railroad would call "shut down parts " cars that needed to be at the plant before the assembly line would have to stop. CN would sometimes run a train from Sarnia or Buffalo with only 2 cars to Oshawa where a yard job was waiting to spot them in the factory.
When I deliver 232's to Oakville the car dept goes to work to get them ready for the "bucks" to be loaded.
Some 232's do get diverted to Ingersol yes, but that sometimes is decided after we leave Buffalo. The vast majority go to Oakville. 332's were Buffalo to Oshawa trains, but some did go to Ingersol.
True mainline power east of Burlington West is rare these days.

From time to time extras run on all railroads.....

they can be HOT HOT HOT too - as in railways at the connecting end have trains waiting to lift them....

For example, CP runs extra autos from various railroads in the US, and may be run to Galt for Toyota... with a Hagey job waiting on the main for a handoff or to OSR at Woodstock with OSR waiting for direct pickup.

In this case run to Oakville direct and a yard job will use the cars probably right away if it's really really hot.

Some extras run from Buffalo via CN to Ingersoll too (for CAMI) back when extra 332's would operate...

Mainline power on the oakville sub east of Burlington is rare - worth a shot for you young kids some day..

No real reason. Auto racks are comtrolled by TTX and the auto companies. They move the cars according to the need of the auto plant. Most cars for Oakville come from the east in to Mac Yrd then forwarded to Oakville via 435
