Comments on: CN GP40-2L(W) leads a short export special train eastbound on CN’s Kingston Sub, passing through Collins Bay just west of Kingston. Noted as the “Ayatollah Extra” by the photographer, the trailing eight units are GMD-built GT26CW-2 units bound for the east coast for export to Iran, for the Iranian Islamic Republic Railways. Part of a 1984 order for 70 units from EMD, 60 were built at GMD’s London, Ontario plant between December 1983 and July 1984 as units 60.915-60.974 (an untarped example here).

Yes, I think this could have gone the Guelph Subdivision as well at the time. Very interesting image.

I'm wondering if this train would have taken the Guelph Sub? These types of trains often did when they were still producing locomotives.
