Comments on: CN L568 approaches the Duke Street crossing in Kitchener, Ontario as it heads west to Stratford light power with BNSF 2090 and CN 4936. As of March 2025, BNSF GP38-2 2090 was still in it’s BNSF paint and operating in Ontario on CN.

It’s a good question. All I can say is BNSF is finally purging their deadlines, some after 15 years.

There’s gp7′s and gp9′s that have finally been sold after going off the roster in 2007/2009 respectively.

Almost 20 years in some cases…

Wonder why BNSF are selling them. Still a fit engine Class 1′s use for switching. A downturn in service perhaps?

There’s 8 still on the property with 6 confirmed purchased. 2090 and 2968 remain BNSF on CN and no word on if they are purchased, or not. Only time will tell. The others are being renumbered..

Sadly I heard otherwise for 2317. Nice shot. I’m glad I documented these when in solid BNSF paint as some are getting ugly patches.
