Comments on: CN may have some really ugly units. We’ve seen a few posts of them – and feel free to post your findings. But let’s be brutally honest – CN has the best roster of any Class 1 in North America right now. Period. Despite implementing (and Pioneering) PSR on a Class 1 we still have a lot of good stuff in both the six axle and four axle worlds. Generations of power. Some of it is also really UGLY. I don’t like ugly stuff, I never have.. but I enjoy what is here and shoot things as they lie (Like in Golf).
So what’s this then? CN 4726. It’s a Zebra. It’s Noodle. Zoodle perhaps? Really needs a lick of paint is all I know but for now, it wears both schemes.
Discussion for the locals – this was parked in Guelph on 542.. which is happening regularly now – they didn’t make it to Cambridge three times this week and parked in Guelph! Also 542 is going to nights starting this weekend I’m told. Get your shots.. oops, too late, it’s a night train now. We’ll see how long that lasts.

I asked myself that same question Larry when I saw a shot of it a few weeks back. To me, either do it all or don't do anything.

Personally though, I quite like the ratty units.

Wow! What came first the noodle or the stripes? I've always wondered why they don't repaint the GP38-2's, the units that seem problematic in paint jobs. I'm sure there's still a few years left in them.

I see they painted over the white marks on the nose that you can see on James Knott's photo from January 2018 of the 4726. Why would you paint over a few white marks and stop there when the rest looks like this?
I'm also finding that it is not only how they look. A few of these 38's that have been trapped in yard service for ages are sounding pretty rough too. The one in particular has quite a knock in the engine.
