Comments on: CN train 385, having trouble with CN 2153, stalled on the grade just east of the Hardy Road railway crossing. CN 580 with CN 7081 attempted and failed to push the train. The City Traffic Department was called because the traffic signal at Hardy Road and Paris Road was not cycling because it was stuck in “railway pre-emption” with 385 stopped on the circuit for the railway crossing signals. They ended up backing 385 off the crossing circuit; I don’t know what they ended up doing to get the train moving again.

Nope, the signal boys pulled up when they saw me standing at the crossing. It was at lunch, hence why I didn't know what transpired. Thanks Joe, now we know the rest of the story. (we checked the signal system later and discovered the crossing was blocked for 1:20!)

So, what ended up happening is this. They had to drain 2153 and work with just 2276. RTC had them take chunks of their train to Paris to make it more manageable for a single unit.

Then while doing this they discovered a shifted load which had to be dealt with as well. Not sure what they did with it but am assuming it got left in the yard at Brantford to be fixed up.

They left Brantford closer to 1700 with 580 pushing on the tail end, I think they shoved all the way to Paris.
