Comments on: CNoR 1906 built Duncan Ontario, CNoR Mile 11.1 located at the Leaside Spur junction.

Renamed Oriole by the CNR in 1923, this station was replaced by a new CNR Oriole station (until 1978) at Mile 11.3 Bala Subdivision ( to the north), and at that time the imaged building was re-purposed as a Sectionman’s dwelling.

Amazing this building existed until April 7, 1987 then demolished by Temperman & Sons

And look closely the bird house is on the far side of the hydro pole – the picnic table is just out of the pic on the left beside the evergreen tree – and per google maps it appears that the willow tree remains in place.

   Interesting:

The CNoR Leaside Spur built to access the O & Q at CPR Donlands mile 204.8 Belleville sub (east of Leaside), and also to connect with the future (at time of construction) 1919 built CNoR Leaside Shops ( immediately north of O&Q Leaside).

In Leaside the CNoR main locomotive shop building, a 12 railway stall building (92 x 46 meters ) is in situ, re-purposed as commercial space and today is occupied by a supermarket.

I forgot to mention I appreciate the research on this place. Stations seem to be notoriously hard in finding accurate facts regarding their construction and eventual demise.
