Comments on: CN’s Brazeau Sub local returns to Edmonton in the early evening.
I can’t be certain, I but I believe that this train was an out-one-day-and-return-the-next operation.
It may be difficult to determine from the resolution of the photo, but that blue tank car, seven cars back, is an eight axle monster. I would see these on this train periodically (but never noticed them on any other train). Their destination was the Union Carbide (now Dow Chemical) plant at Prentiss.
I would see these cars again, along with six axle tanks on UP’s Angleton Sub south of Houston in the mid 2000′s.

Thanks.
I came across a guy with a web site for these "Whales".
I have a few more photos of them. Down in south Texas, they went to one of the chemical plants at Chocolate Bayou (29.240881, -95.205493)
