Comments on: CN’s Milton Station is pictured in 1973 at its original location, along the former mainline that at the time of this photo was now a short spur.

The CN line through Milton was originally built as the Hamilton & Northwestern Railway, eventually becoming CN’s Milton Subdivision. The line, which crossed CP’s Galt Sub at an interlocking diamond north of the station, was grade-separated and realigned to the west through town around 1963-64, becoming part of CN’s new Halton Subdivision.

The old alignment became a short spur line, the Milton Townline Spur, that ran south to the old station area here to serve the Robertson Screw factory nearby. The CN-CP diamond was removed circa 1973-74, and CP then served Robertson Screw into the 80′s via a connecting track of their Galt Sub to part of the former CN trackage. CN’s Milton Station was moved to north end of town, and serves as a tourist information building in Chris Hadfield Park.

I'm not sure Stephen, but I do know the rails from the CP connecting track were still in place at least through the forest south of where the diamond used to be - RP.ca contributor Marcus Stevens has shots IIRC.

This is a great image, complete with a classic CN orange MofW truck!

There's an aerial photo on Robertson Screw's website (https://www.robertsonscrew.com/) from the early 60's showing the station's location next to the old mainline alignment by the factory, and the new line for the Halton Sub under construction at the bottom left: https://static.wixstatic.com/media/c38d6f_1cba5a066d5d460a949d14818f6fb180~mv2.jpg
