Comments on: CN’s second funeral train to hit Niagara is seen here at the St Catharines station, on a day fitting for a funeral. The first round of dash 8′s to be scrapped in Niagara was done by K&K at Martech’s old facility, these were brought to SLM in Welland for scrapping. SLM previously scrapped a handful of Canadian Pacific sd40-2′s in 2016. The weather was brutal, and my rain jacket wasn’t good enough to repeal the downpour we received on this day, which ended up giving me a gnarly case of pneumonia, which lasted about three weeks. I was lucky enough to see a couple more transports of dash 8′s on 421, however. I sure do miss the dash 8′s running, but I’m sure the crews do not.

Late to this party, but at least full fuel tanks explain the sag. Surprised the GMD versions didn't have this, at least from what I saw.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. In retrospect, it was worth it for a historic shot.

I went to my parents and had lunch. Rain was just too hard. My gear was soaked after hamilton

Then i went out later for 562 hoping they wouldn't waste time and just move em same day. Thank the lord.

What a cold July day... sorry you had pneumonia docta. I quite liked the coolness of it all despite the lack of sun

Great shot. I agree; it was a horrible day. I tried 'jumping out of the car' for a shot in Niagara Falls at the Hwy 20 crossing and the rain was so heavy I couldn't even grab a pic there. Absolutely brutal.

The frames appeared to sag/bow when the fuel tanks had fuel/weight in them especially when full, but these ones would have been empty for scrapping. Along with those Dofasco hi-ad trucks (amongst other reasons), always made them a rough ride/unpopular with crews.

That Draper Taper was the cause of many a chiropractor's visit if you did any switching with it, but I'm sure someone will correct me.

Also no more frames that appear bowed in the middle. They look straight, but from certain angles, it appears bowed.
