Comments on: CP 420 seen at South Honda Wye Switch Alliston with a huge consist of 8 engines on the head end, and a 9th working mid-train with a clear shot into Toronto Yard. Included in this lashup are 5 various SD70ACu’s including 7022 painted in the Royal Canadian Navy grey scheme, these rebuilds have recently been restricted from service West of Alyth (just as they were when they were still SD9043MAC’s!) and have since started to really frequent the Toronto area.

Oil leaks are easy to remedy. Normally fuels leaks are also an easy fix. Would love to know the real reason from CP. "The Truth Is Out There" :-)

I've heard several rumours/ideas on why they've been kept East or Alyth again, but the most popular one seems to be oil and fuel leaks in the national park lands West of there. I've also heard what jknott86 has heard and would imagine there's a bit of truth to both. The ghosts of the 9100's live on!

Rough terrain should not stop a locomotive from working. Yes many different locomotives have quirks IE SDP40F's were prone to derailing that host railroads banned them and eventually they were scrapped and most parts used to build the F40's. Some units can be "slippery" as well. So unless there are operational issues that need to keep them close to the East, I am not sure why they are banned?

I was told they perform poorly in rough terrain. The person went on to say a bunch of things that were over my head, in hogger speak.
