Comments on: CP 8142, an SW1200RS, (now all off the CP roster) slows to a stop at the old Woodstock CP station. I do forget whether he was just getting papers to leave or whether he had come in for the day. I do recall it being warm for this late in the year; a nice end to the day was this “mood shot” before I headed back home. One can almost feel the peacefulness of the scene. The MoW building on the left has long since been demolished, and the mainline has been shifted well away from the station. Woodstock CP station still stands, an all-purpose building; including usage as an office for the OSR when they come into town to switch with the CP. CP 8142, built way back in 1959, now toils for the Black River & Western in New Jersey.

Thanks Ron. I recall CP 8777 around this time. Also 8730 working St. Marys; but also have seen an SW at St. Mary’s, laying over. Woodstock once a busy place. Recall an RS-23 by the turntable back then as well. )All that local industry; now almost all gone.

My guess Arnold, it was the roadswitcher switching the yard.. its too early in the day for the Port Burwell Sub train to be returning to Woodstock ..it may also have have been the day job returning from St Mary’s.

Certainly big changes there now. Lots of freight cars too. Woodstock must’ve been a bustlin’ railway town at that time.
