Comments on: CP 8769, CP 8553 and SD9043MAC CP 9113 lead an eastbound through Lachine IMS yard, as a pair of GP9′s (CP 1690 & an unknown mate) look on. Since then the GP9′s have all been retired and the SD9043MAC’s stored, unlikely to ever see service on CP again.

I remember when the 9043MAC's entered service on CP. Only one (I believe 9102) had cleared the Test House and was being towed to Toronto, the rest were still there for "teething issues". But only 11 of them were built by GMD. The rest CP built from kits. This was 1999, when even seeing a GE in my words was rare.

From what I know, crews didn't like it. The 4 H engined models were to become ACe's (through an exchange) back in 2004 or 2005, but CP didn't want them. They did test out CSX SD70ACe's but they could not handle the winters in Ontario. That's what I know. Someone out there could correct me on this one. CSX didn't order any after the 20 pre-production models.

I'm wondering if CP will order 70ACe-T4's? Given their current love affair with GE (same goes for the ET44AC), wonder if we will see the 70ACe-T4 on CP, that doesn't belong to another railroad. Sure they have the 20ECO's and the 30ECO's but those aren't new since they use recycled parts. On paper it looks "new" but if you ask me, it isin't.
