Comments on: CP RS18 8751 works a local wayfreight along the St. Thomas Subdivision, trundling westbound through Beachville (west of Woodstock, Mile 4) passing cuts of “tank hoppers” and slab-side covered hoppers. Their tops and flanks are stained white with lime from service handling cargo from the nearby Beachville Lime plant, a large local limestone quarry and lime manufacturing operation in Oxford County between Ingersoll and Beachville. CP served Beachville Lime off their St. Thomas Sub via a small spur (the Beachville Lime Spur) west of here at at Mile 5.6, running into the east end of the site. CN had a number of sidings off their Dundas Sub, which intersected the property. Present day aerial imagery shows sidings of both appearing to be weed-grown and out of service. This looks like it might be the Tillsonburg/Port Burwell “Pickup” (wayfreight). It was an assigned job out of Woodstock at either 1100 or 1201 daily except Sunday. The first car looks like potash for Kinglake on the now abandoned section south of Tillsonburg. The van will be a 4000 series run through mechanical van, if I recall, the wooden cabooses were gone by this date.
