Comments on: CP SD40 5553 and RS18 1807 lead the London Pickup as it heads west on the Galt Sub through Milton, passing over Bronte Street crossing at the west end of town. Reg’s vantage point here was no doubt the CN Halton Sub embankment. Someone at Agincourt Yard must have given the 5553 a good spit and polish cleaning, as it has a nice gleam to it in the morning light.

For anyone slightly confused, why would the "London Pickup" be at Milton?...this was before the days of the London Pickup assignments between Quebec St & Guelph Jct. This was a pool job that ran out of Agincourt whenever traffic warranted. 2 nicknames I recall for this job among pool crews: "the Puke Up", "the glorified Shorts" which referred to the fsct the train was made up of scars for Woodstock,Galt,Guelph Jct etc, with a block of London & Chathams ahead of the van. I've worked "pickups" where the whole train was for London, the whole train was shorts & one time, the whole train was 30 cars for Woodstock.
