Comments on: CP SW1200RS 8143 leads four other “pups” (8130, 8168, 8146, and 8147) out of Guelph Jct on a nice late winter day in 1971. Lash-ups like this were a fairly common sight on weekends when such units were gathered up and moved from branch line assignments to Toronto Yard for servicing.

The reverse sometimes took place too. I recall being on a westbound out of Toronto on a Saturday afternoon, with 5 ‘pups’ and about 100 cars. Two were set off at Woodstock & the remaining 3 went to Quebec St. That power was came off the train at Quebec Street & 2 big units off the shop took our train to Windsor instead.
