Comments on: CPR 6539 works along Queens Quay in Toronto Harbour, still painted in faded maroon and grey paint with block lettering. Two years later, 6539 was sold to Kimberly-Clark to work at their mill in Terrace Bay, and today it is on display in Schreiber. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=18544

When I started on CP in 1973, we had 6589 & 6590 at Woodstock (ON) for the Port Burwell Wayfreight & the Woodstock Roadswitchers (yard job, road crews). The 1830 R/S went to Ingersoll & back most nights. One time 6539 was sent to replace one of our '6500s'. It wasn't supposed to be in road service because it lacked a pilot between the footboards & had a one chime horn that sounded like a tugboat. We used it anyway & accidentally 'forgot' the 25mph speed restriction for units without pilots.

Neat, too bad all that trackage is gone today. That section on the east side continued to serve Redpath until 2008 or so.
