Comments on: CP’s #528 Roadrailer has just left London, running eastbound by mile 109 on the GALT sub headed toward Toronto. Control cab 1100 and permanent mate CP SD40-2 #6043 are the power. The 1100, formerly CP C-424 #4236, had its traction motors removed and was de-engined in 1995 to become strictly a cab only. The unit was retired in 2004 and in 2008 it was donated to Exporail in Quebec.

1100 rode like a tractor on a plowed field. It's interesting to compare this photo with earlier ones of the RoadRailer before they came up with the "coupler mate" (I think that was the term). The original ones used the adapter car which rode level with the rest of the trailers. With the newer setup, the first trailer had a distinctive dip on the front end. For those unaware, the adapter cars were an empty trailer (save a few tools inside) with a knuckle coupler on the front.
