Comments on: During the US Rail strike of fall 1978, some NW/DH trains were detoured over the CASO in Southern Ontario. Here we see D&H 7415, 7616 and 7315 just coming off the yard trackage onto the mainline at CN Duff westbound. Interesting power on the D&H back then. After the restructuring of the Northeastern US Railways upon the creation of Conrail; the D&H ended up with Reading (first unit), and Lehigh Valley (third unit). The middle unit is the famed “lightning stripe” scheme that made this line so popular with the fans.

It's neat how this location has changed so little since the time of your photo - and today. The only difference now is the lack of telephone box on the CN duff sign, everything else is nearly identical, save for potential changes to the track layout..

Oh forgive me, kind Sir for I have faux pas'd a posting. Believe it or not, I did see 7409 in Fort Erie one time but it was escaping to the bridge USA-bound before I caught up to it. Hence a crappy photo. That was in the mid-80s and probably close to the last time I have ever seen a D&H unit other than the modern-day 7300s in this country.
