Comments on: E07-31 strikes the first curve of the day just west of Earl Grey at Mile 81, where it will begin its northwestern approach to the Bulyea Junction with the Lanigan Subdivision. Although track speed is 25mph on the Bulyea, the crew was conservative with the throttle knowing the history of incidents these units have had over the last few weeks combined with low track quality. For example 9022 at the time had recently been bad-ordered by Moose Jaw Diesel regarding its ability to lead in part due to a broken conductor-side window as well as a leaking toilet. 9021 had also assisted in holding up an E44 for nearly 24 hours the previous week due to a failed air compressor that would impede their ability to leave Belle Plaine and Regina in a timely fashion. Fortunately for myself and my friend who drove down from Prince Albert to see E07, Moose Jaw seemed to have addressed these issues in time for action on the New Year and the subsequent statutory holiday.

Of the bunch so far, this one has nailed that port hole the best. I’m sure those windows are the reason CP has fixed these units up. What is it about round windows anyways?
