Comments on: Eastbound past the old Dundas station (long gone) rolls CN 3152 and 6625 on a rather frosty February day. This is another image from what is considered VIA’s first year of official operation as they celebrate their 40th full year. ‘Tempo’ engine 3152 would survive 5 more years after this, retiring along with the others in the 3150-3155 group in 1983. The station was demolished in 1987 after a fire damaged it structurally in 1984, and the small MoW shed, which often housed a track car, was removed around that time as well.

LOL, I am not sure how people just retire and do nothing. I get that after many years of work most people can't wait to not go back to the office or whatever. I guess most people also can't retire at 57, so it was kinda early. Railroading is in my blood and I have been blessed to live my dream job.
Actually PNR does contract work for Metrolinx so most of what I do is on behalf of Metrolinx

Again, thanks. Can't believe the yesterdays are already the old days. But time flies even quicker when you are NOT working. I feel sorry for Snake every time I see him hovering over his paperwork in a local restaurant where he conducts some of his business...... I've not done squat it a dozen years and proud of it. I thought you were going to Metrolinx for some reason. Glad you're busy. There IS something about railroading; seems no one who has experienced the occupation can really shake free of it.

I love the pics you post of the "old days" LOL, lets not race to the urn too quickly my friend. Hoping that you are in good health and have many years of taking photos ahead of you. I do know what you mean though. Time flies for sure. Can't believe I was a young man of 21 when I hired on the railroad. 36 years later I retired. Not because I had enough as it was my dream job to be a locomotive engineer, but because the work had drastically changed to Toronto based freight crews. Basically no regular trains for the freight pool. Anyway, 57 was too young to retire, I got bored. So less than a year later I am a Rule 42 foreman for PNR Railworks. You can take the boy away from the trains, but you can't take the trains away from the boy :-)

Appreciate the kind comments, lad. I thought you might like this because of the memories some of the other Dundas images brought to you. With me, it has been,"Holy Crap, 40 Years Already"?? This 'race to fill an urn on the mantel' is starting to bug me. :o)

Great pic AW. It brings back so many memories for me. These stops were still daily occurrences in the early 80's as I remember stopping at that very stations to entrain or detrain passengers. Dundas was not an official stop at the time but was what we called a flag stop. The train only stopped if there were passengers waiting outside the station. Thanks for the memories my friend.
