<title>Comments on: Ernestown is not much of a place. Never was, never will be. This station, built way back in 1855, was actually built to serve the town of Bath, about 5 KMs away. Passenger service was always light; but trains have not stopped here since the 1950s, and for a while MoW used specially-built rooms in this building. That lasted up to about 1990, and by that time all out-buildings had been razed. That includes the Hi-Visibility Outhouse behind the station. The stone building is now protected under the Heritage Act, as of 1994. It was one of around 30 stations of it&#8217;s type that once stood in Ontario; but now we are down to just a few: others include Port Hope, Prescott and St. Marys&#8217; Jct. Photographic opportunity here not as wide open as it once was; trees have encroached on the scene.</title>
