Comments on: Even with that hideous gizmo up top, this is still one of my favourite units out there. I mean, how could you not like it? So when it showed up in Hamilton I knew I had to get it somewhere down the hole in good light. With it facing east and with a beautiful day on our hands today in Southern Ontario, I got to the yard early this morning (around 7am) because the 0600 has been getting out fairly early on Saturdays lately it seems. When I got there, the power had two boxcars behind it – so I figured they were either going to Pearce Warehousing on the Grimsby, or Parkdale Warehousing on the N&NW. The cars didn’t look like the typical Parkdale cars and I’d seen the 0600 go to Pearce on a Saturday a couple weeks prior so I guessed Pearce, but I guessed wrong, and Parkdale Warehousing it was. They’re seen here at the corner of Strathearne and Brampton, shoving out the lone Railbox they lifted before making their setoff. They’d runaround the box here and later make a two car lift at NSC and a one car lift at Bell & MacKenzie before heading back to the yard.

Very nice morning shot Jamie.

One of my favorite CN GP9RM's too, as had my first cab ride on the Waterloo Spur in it back in 1993. It said CN on the nose back then though.

@Paul..possibly. LOL i think from my memories of working on some Belt pack units that CN does not have a standard type when it comes to antennae

@Larry. Don't think its GPS? The only units that i can remember having any kind of tracking are the newer units from GE and GMDs

Wild guess here. That thing on the roof kind of looks like a GPS antenna. If that is the case, I'm not sure I would want to be tracked that close as to where I am all day long.

Great...maybe I should try and get some shots of this unit. Do you know what symbol that's supposed to be on the nose? I've always wondered.
