Comments on: Everyone is on board, the step box has been tossed into the vestibule, and the doors are closed and locked for today’s departure of the Pukatawagan Mixed. PRLX 2265 & PRLX 2669 pull this unique consist passed VIA Rail’s #691 equipment parked at the far left of the frame, while equipment department employees give the Puk a roll-by inspection as it leaves the station. First car in the consist is KRC 9631 (ex-VIA 9631, exx-CN 9631) Class BE-73-H, a 73′ 6″ baggage car. Second up behind the power is KRC 5649 (ex-VIA 5649, exx-CN-5649) a dayniter coach built by CC&F in 1954 and converted to this combination baggage/coach in 1998.

Paul, this must be the last regularly scheduled Mixed train in Canada. Sure brings back memories of all the different mixed trains I rode many years ago in Ontario on the CNR, CPR, ONR and once in Newfoundland. This train the only one that I have seen in VIA blue. Too bad they don’t show its schedule in VIA on-line timetable. Thanks for sharing, John

I don't think there's a need for buffers on the Budd equipment either (but don't get me started!) :-)
The interior of this particular coach on the Puk Mixed would toss you right back into the 1970's. It was a typical day-niter configuration with seats in red cloth & vinyl, carpeted overhead luggage racks, and some fake woodgrain paneling at the car ends.
I've got several interior shots of the coach and baggage car I'd like to post but I need to prep them first.
Stay tuned!

No need for buffers with that passenger equipment. Was the interior retro-VIA?

The KRC 9631 would have started life as CN 9250 before CN renumbered it to 9631.
