Comments on: Ex-GTR / CN “Outer” Station located on Montreal Street in Kingston, Ontario. It was in rough shape when I took this photo in 2006….and it hasn’t improved. The roof was removed a little later, as the station had been previously damaged by a fire some years before.

It was with hope that something would be done with this station, and that CN would build a new roof. Political and other aspirations apparently won the day, and a new roof has not been built. Last I had known when passing this station again in mid-2013 – the walls of the structure were held up with wooden beams so as not to collapse inwards (or at all!)

Sad that something is still not done – that there is still room to let these historic buildings whither to the elements, whether historically designated or not.

I spent many hours at this station as a youth having grown up at the west end of the yard. Sadly, the site is in a part of town that tourists would not visit.
