 Noteworthy


Chessie System (holdco) owned C &amp; O; B &amp; O; WM; B&amp;OCHR, and trains operated with the Chessie System name 1973 to 1987.


CSX Corporation created November 1980 with merger of Chessie (the holdco) into SCL. The railroads continued to operate independently, then in December 1982 the Family Lines merged into SCL; 1983 WM merged into B&amp;O;  CSX livery introduced  1986; April 1987 B&amp;O merged into C&amp;O; August 1987 C&amp;O merged into CSX Transportation, the latter being a re-named Seaboard System, and  the Chessie System name retired.
