Comments on: For a while in the early months of 1993, the International Railroad Bridge in Fort Erie was closed to traffic as sinking stone piers were shored up. The Whirlpool Rapids Bridge at Niagara Falls was the place to be as most all traffic was diverted thru CN and the Grimsby sub.
In this image we see NS 8569 and 8079 having just crossed into Canada. That’s the big Niagara Falls VIA station looming over the scene.
Normal traffic at the time was limited to Amtrak, VIA and small CN transfers, so the sudden influx of mainline freights was quite the experience for the fans.

Looks so much better now that the olive green paint that once caked the brick was removed.

Nice angle. Really shows off the station architecture.
