Comments on: For me personally, this is a classic Bayview memory. A nice afternoon up on the hillside watching the Pulp train go by on its way Port Robinson and the setting out of many cars of logs for the Thorold Pulp and Paper company.
Yes, of course. All gone now as the GP9s have all been rebuilt, renumbered and or retired. And Thorold Paper has closed up shop.
Power this afternoon is CN 4565, 4495, 4527 and 4571.
Don’t know who owned that little Vega. My car is parked next to (the late) Bill McArthur’s station wagon. I miss those days, and miss Bill a lot too.

Ordered at Mac around 10am daily. I loved building that train for that same aroma.....smells like those first few breaths in Banff.

Absolutely right. You had to be there.
For most of us, the passing of the Pulp Train was the highlight of the afternoon.

The pulp logs and wood chips (pine, I believe) had that sweet smell of fresh cut lumber. I guess you had to be there. It was memorable. And unique.

A wonderful image of a very special era at Bayview. The passage of 431 was always sweetly aromatic. Good times, they were.
