Comments on: For one second it almost looks like old days on the old Goderich subdivision. I personally really miss the GP9U’s on CP, but at least I still have a handful of hand-me-downs on the Ontario Southland. I spent a lot of time over the last 20 years chasing these old veteran Geeps around Ontario. The lighting on OSR’s Guelph Junction Railway isn’t the best for the morning northbound run, so overcast days work best for the most part. here a pair of OSR’s former CP GP9U’s roll along the Speed River in downtown Guelph on a bit of a dreary morning, but the sight and sounds of these old workhorses certainly brightened my day.

I sure miss these on CP.

CN has lots, but in Sarnia they seem to be quickly dissapearing in favour of GP40's. Might be the future on CN.

The normally aspirated 567 engine has a sound all its own. The turbos and higher horse power of the later units diminished this. Not much chance of a throaty bark making it past turbo blades. Then again, a failing turbo provides a fine display of smoke and flames. :-)
