Comments on: For some of us, it seems these ES44ACs have been around forever, yet it has only been 8 years. Stopped here at the Welland Yard office on their way to Toronto and almost overnight into revenue service are 6 new units, CP 8863, 8864, 8865, 8866, 8867 and 8862, painted up for the Vancouver Olympics of 2010; behind CP 8853 and 9727 up front. Most of us hardly had a chance to shoot this special paint before they went West, and then were painted to regular CP scheme after the Olympic hullyballoo was over.

Ah, that makes sense. Here's a shot I took of CP 8860 in the Lachine IMS yard in February 2009.

The Olympics were mainstays on the transcon 100 series (Vancouver to Montreal, Vancouver to Toronto). They rarely, if ever ventured off this route..... going down the Galt, Hamilton and Windsor subs for example.

I seem to remember seeing them a decent amount in Montreal for a little while in 2008, so I don't think they all went out west.
