Comments on: For the GEXR and G&W fans – Train 518 (Stratford road switcher) has ran to Kitchener, and will take this lone car to switch a customer at New Hamburg. Once completed, 518 ran back to Kitchener, grabbing some empty autoracks which just arrived from Toronto on train 431, for a direct connection to the CP interchange at South Junction (near Cambridge).

One can see the new Kitchener station name sign on top of the sand tower – the sign was briefly located at the freight shed in 2014 (Rob Smith photo here) , only to be removed a month or two later.

Paid $80 used for mine - was worth about $200 when purchased around 1999.

This is the closest to it now:

It was this one:

The difference now is they added MRC coating on the newer models.

A tip for anyone shopping for a filter:

I'd always advocating for getting the best you can - I've used filters in the past that caused headlight ghosting.. this does no such thing.. or I'd just throw it out/sell it.

Cheap filters can have unwanted effects - read reviews first before buying. This goes for anyone wanting to put a protective UV filter on their glass.... ruined a number of my shots in 2004, took it off and never looked back :)

Did you use a polarizer here? Very crisp colours. I also need to get shots of GEXR along the Huron Park spur to the freight yard at Hayward Ave.

Yes, I'm trying to show that South Junction is still in Kitchener, but located a few miles south toward Cambridge. It's only a couple KM to the river, which is the border..

Updated caption to reflect that ;)
