Comments on: Friday evening in Vaughn finds a pair of CN sd40-2s (6019 and 6201) working the north end of the CN MacMillan yard with slug 232 in the middle. In this scene they had just cleared the Melville Ave overpass and are slowly reversing back into the yard after having pulled ahead moments ago in order to set off the right freight cars on the right track in the yard. If you look to the right of the locomotive on the loose welded rails between the 2 pullback tracks, you can see a duck standing on top of the rails watching the train creep by him. That’s something you don’t see everyday because most ducks and other small animals would find the noise coming from the locomotive too be too intense but this little guy here seems to be fearless and is proving it by standing next to the massive and loud sd40 which close to fifty-times his size!

Yea they are used to trains. They will fly a short distance if the train was moving fast. Mac Yrd has deer, foxes, coyote’s, ducks and Canada geese all living within or close to the yard, esp near the hump or shop

I don’t think its actually a duck. Looks like a female wild turkey. Mac Yrd has lots of them around.
