<title>Comments on: General Motors of Canada Ltd SW900 47074 sits inside the grounds of GM&#8217;s former McKinnon Industries St. Catharines plant (foundry/casting work), looking clean and near spotless on this wet day. This yellow switcher was originally built by GMD London in 1966 for McKinnon Industries, later acquired by GM of Canada. It was eventually sold to Dofasco in Hamilton and became their 416.The 900hp single stack SW900 model, powered by an 8-cylinder 567C, was part of EMD/GMD&#8217;s common switcher platform line at the time and was in the middle range of their product offering: less powerful than the 12 cylinder 1200hp SW9/SW1200 model, but more powerful than the 6-cylinder 600hp SW1/SW600. It (and its 800hp predecessor SW8) were popular for light switching and industrial use.Roger Heed photo, Dan Dell&#8217;Unto collection slide.</title>
