The job was assigned with a start time in Aberdeen of 2359. For a while it was at 2100. The train switched at Waterdown North, Guelph Jct & Guelph and sometimes other other odd spots like Elmira or Blyth etc.
Sub.speed was 35mph, with slow orders in some locations. Upon arrival at Goderich, the crew usually took a few hrs rest & were ordered for 1300 for the return trip. The Goderich Sub was 110 miles if I recall plus 2.5 miles on the Hamilton Sub to reach Aberdeen. There was some shuffling around at Guelph Jct both ways, to get pointed in the right direction too.

My memory of the trip
Was leaving Hamilton at dusk. An hour or two of switching At Guelph jct. then probably 30mph trip to Goderich arriving at dawn. After our work in Goderich We arrived back a Hamilton around 7pm

Larry, out of curiosity, why was the trip from Hamilton so long? Can you describe the speeds attained, the places to work en-route and the departure time out of Hamilton and arrival time at Goderich?
